I first read this story back in the mid 60s and was captivated by the story then. This week I bought Golden Apples of the Sun and found it again. It had lost none of its magical charm over the ensuing years. Ray Bradbury is a conjurer who maniplulates words in new directions; by doing this he creates a vivid imagery that few writers can achieve. The story ends tanatlisingly with Tom holding the crumpled note with Cecy's address on, in his sleep.
